Baby 3 is on the Way!

We are SO excited to announce that baby #3 will be joining our family this fall! What is the gender and how has this pregnancy gone so far? Read on for more details.

Will We Find Out the Gender?

This is a resounding “YES!” We are planners by nature in this family. Finding out the gender is a fun little tease before we get to meet this little one. We had our ultrasound and saw that we’re having a happy and healthy baby boy! And even more important than the baby’s gender (we really don’t have a preference) is the fact that the baby looks healthy.

We told the kiddos the baby’s gender with cupcakes. We went out to eat and brought cupcakes with blue sprinkles to surprise them. It was a fun way to celebrate together. We also celebrated with cupcakes when my daughter came to meet my son at the hospital, and we will probably do that this time around, too!

What is the Due Date?

The due date is officially Sept 11. I’ve gone a week over my due date with both other kids, so I never expected the baby to be born by my due date. With my first, I worked up until 40+6 days and was thankful I had something to keep my mind busy during the wait. I find that not expecting the baby to arrive on a specific timeline helps ease my mind and make the whole process way less stressful.

Born at 41 weeks, both my kiddos weighed just over 8 lbs at birth (they actually both weighed the same exact amount!). Wouldn’t it be funny if this baby weighed the same amount too? Does anyone know the statistical likelihood of that?

Did I have Morning Sickness in the First Trimester?

Another resounding “yes” to this question. This time it’s been more evening sickness than anything else. With each baby, I’ve felt nauseated for a majority of the first trimester. This time the nausea has been a bit more intense, but thankfully it seems to be subsiding now. In my other pregnancies, the first trimester nausea and fatigue gets replaced with heart burn once the third trimester rolls around. But, I’d take the third trimester over the first any day!

Where will the Baby be Born?

This baby will be born at the same hospital as our other two kiddos. The biggest consideration for us in choosing a birth location is how safe and comfortable it feels to us both. This is a very personal decision. For both my husband and I, we feel the most safe, comfortable and at ease in a hospital.

Where will the Baby Sleep?

A lot of readers and friends that know our house layout know that we have a rambler home with three bedrooms on the main floor, and one in the basement. The baby will be in our room in a bassinet for the first few months. Both other kiddos stayed in our room for the first few months too. Eventually, our two boys will share a room. I’m looking forward to designing a fun, shared space for them!

Was this Pregnancy Planned or were you Surprised?

Another “yes” here. We always planned to have three kids in our family. We are so excited to meet this little babe! Our first two kids are 28 months apart and this baby will be 41 months younger than his brother.

I’m looking forward to having some snuggle time with the baby this fall once my two older kids are back at school. My daughter will start kindergarten and my son starts a part time, half day preschool program. So, a few days a week it will be just the baby and me home together.

Now over to you. Share in the comments if you found out what you were having, and how you told your kids!

Our Christmas fireplace is my favorite spot to decorate for the holidays. The fireplace is the focal point of our main living space, and adding Christmas decorations to it was such a fun project. This is the first year we were able to decorate the fireplace for Christmas after installing a new fireplace mantle with built in cabinets. I’m so excited to share our Christmas
